Crusaders In The Community

Coaching Programme

The Crusaders coaching in the community programme was originally set up when the Crusaders started in 1992.

The community programme has now been taken over by the Crusader Foundation and runs alongside the Crusaders basketball, using top quality, first team players to coach in 40 primary, secondary schools, colleges and other venues coaching over 3000 young people each year, throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This coaching work takes place in curriculum time, lunch times, after school and weekends. Many of the coaching sessions have become integral parts of schools’ physical education curriculum programme.

Funding is also approached in many ways. We charge by the hour at a competitive rate well below the recommended rates set by the English Basketball Association. We are able to do this thanks to the sponsorship and support from many local organisations.

As part of the programme the Crusaders provide all the necessary equipment required to coach basketball, which includes backboards, rings/hoops and basketball to suit different ages, abilities and facilities.
