The Crusader Foundation was established on November 12 1997, as a Company Limited by
Guarantee with charitable status. The trustees are all committed Christians who understand
and acknowledge the needs of young people in Coventry and Warwickshire and want to support
them in their personal Development.
The Crusader Foundation has now taken over the Coventry Crusaders Basketball
Development Programme to allow the programme to expand and develop, although the
Foundation will continue to work alongside the Coventry Crusaders Basketball Club,
reaching all young people regardless of age, race, gender, ethnic group and financial
status. The Crusader Foundation aims to provide positive Christian outreach promoting
healthy lifestyles, team building skills and racial harmony, through basketball.
Basketball is the fastest growing sport in the U.K with over 2 million people
participating in organised leagues on a regional and national basis.
The Foundation aims to work closely with Coventry Youth for Christ using their
knowledge of working with young people and combining it with the basketball knowledge of
the Coventry Crusaders.
