During the second season of division One basketball, Mercia
health Benefits agreed to sponsor the team, and sportsmatch was awarded. In recognition of
the community aspects of the Crusaders programme to develop awareness and skills amongst
the grass roots, the West Midlands Sports Council provided a grant towards community
development of the sport.
The Crusaders began to coach the wheelchair basketball team at
the Midlands Sports Centre for the Disabled, Tile Hill. The national Addidas streetball
3v3 competition was held in Bond Street Car park.
On court for the Crusaders the crowd grew to somewhere around 1300 for home games, as
the Crusaders completed the double of topping Division One and winning the Wembley arena
playoff finals.
