BUPA Crusaders Home Venue Remains The
SameBupa Crusaders General Manager, Sean Coleman, has announced that the Coventry based basketball team will be playing most or all of the rest of their home games
this season at the Coventry Sports Centre.
After recent talks with Rank Leisure who are building the Skydome Arena in Coventry, Sean Coleman
said:
“We have been told that the Arena will probably not be ready this basketball season. I received the impression that we would be better to wait until it was operational and fully functional before even considering putting on a game in the arena.
"Of course we are disappointed by the news, but at least we can now focus on what we have and do the best we can in the best facilities that are still available at the Coventry Sports
Centre.”
Bupa Crusaders have maintained a good base of supporters over the years, and believe they can seat double the crowd size in the Sports Centre as it is.
Having the crowd base back up close to 1000 would really be a great testimony to the city that the Crusaders are ready and needing to play in the
Arena.
The Skydome Arena will be one of a few such facilities available to basketball teams in this country. It will be just the right size to hold major basketball
events and its central location is ideal.
Bupa Crusaders will not hold their breath, but are still looking forward to being in the new place - just later in the new year than originally planned.
