Colin Rhooms - Fifth ManColin Rhooms is set to make his debut in the starting line-up in the place of
injured star, Kevin Penny.
This is Rhooms first year with the Crusaders and he has
continued to develop his game and make improvements under the tutelage of Coach Dip
Donaldson.
Colin who is a defensive specialist has now received the
vote of confidence to go in and fill the forward spot in the place of Kevin Penny.
Colin Rhooms, 32 year-old 6'1" guard/ forward, is from
Dudley West Midlands, just outside of Birmingham. He has played for clubs such as
Birmingham Bullets, Leicister Riders and Solihull Chiefs.
He signed in the summer after his previous team, Solihull,
folded and has since been working his way to the top with the Crusaders.
"With Rhooms in the line-up he gives us a positive
defensive position. He has a positive attitude and is a great worker on defence. Now his
offensive contribution has given me the confidence to put him out there.
"In making this move it also opens Derrick Pope to a
different position and brings the defensive spark to the starting line-up,"
said head coach Dip Donaldson.
Colin had his best game with the Crusaders two weekends ago
against Westminster with ten points coming off the bench. Now with him in the line-up the
Crusaders will get his talent on the offensive and defensive end with 100% effort that he
is consistently showing.
Defensively the Crusaders need his strength because of the
former NBA player, Tom Sewall who is a lethal weapon for the Mid-Sussex Magic and needs to
be held to a minimum.
