Crusader Cruise to Quarter Final

It has been a while, but Coventry Crusaders are in the quarter final of basketball’s National Cup, a competition similar to the FA Cup in football.  The National Cup involves all the teams from Division Three, Two and One.

Most Division One teams get a bye through the 1st round and then join the competition for the next few rounds.

Crusaders will be playing their quarter final at home in the Coventry Sports Centre on Sunday (4:15pm tip off) and are anticipating a large and enthusiastic crowd on Sunday to support them in this milestone.

They are facing London Capitals who have stormed through the first three rounds and are in full momentum.  Although they did not see a lot of success last season Capitals seem to be making up for lost time and are doing very well so far this year.

They will be formidable but not overwhelming opponents for Crusaders who have actually only played one game in the competition to get to this stage.

Their first round was a bye.  In the second round they played Div. 3 Mansfield, and their third round win was given to them by Taunton Tigers who did not have enough healthy players to field a team, thus sacrificing Tigers chances in the Cup.

Before facing London Capitals on Sunday, however, Crusaders have a road game to Norfolk, and a Division One clash with Kings Lynn.

Crusaders win against Solent has boosted them up the table to 8th place, and Kings Lynn’s first win of the season last weekend against Tees Valley has taken them off the bottom rung of the ladder, so both teams will be trying hard to get that crucial win.

If Crusaders current shooting form stays intact, they should have a very successful weekend.

Tickets are available on the door for Sunday's quarter final £6 Adults, £4 Concessions.
