Crusader Defeat Army

All-Stars in Friendly

A combination of players from the Crusaders men’s team, junior team, and practice squad defeated the Army All-Stars 68-59 in a friendly game on Wednesday night. 

The short-handed Crusaders never trailed in the game, and jumped out to a 30-17 first quarter lead behind the scoring of Sam Oatman and Marcin Twierdzinski. 

Oatman scored 14 in the opening quarter while Twierdzinski added 12.  The teams traded baskets in the second period keeping Coventry in control heading into halftime with a 47-32 lead. 

Despite cold shooting from both sides in the 3rd quarter, the Crusaders still managed to extend their lead to 61-40 going into the 4th

The Army All-Stars made a late push with Coventry resting their starters, but the Crusaders held on for the narrow victory. 

Oatman lead the Crusaders in scoring with 23 points, while Twierdzinski contributed 17.  Murray lead the Army All-Stars with 17 points.
