Crusaders in 3rd Round of Nat'l Cup
Coventry Crusaders
will be hosting Div. 2 side Luna Mansfield Stars on Saturday night at
the Coventry Sports Centre in their 1st actual game of the
tournament.
Crusaders received a
“bye” for the 1st round, and their 2nd Round game
was conceded from Leicester Warriors when they had trouble procuring a
venue in the set timetable.
Luna Mansfield, on
the other hand has already handily beaten two teams to make it to this
round, one of them being Derby Trailblazers of Div. 1, so the Crusaders
will not be taking this game lightly at all.
Crusaders will be
without the services of their big man, Robert Clarke, due to problems
with his knees, and will have to sideline one of their USA players
according to the rules of the competition.
Because Crusaders
competition is from Div. 2 where ONE is the maximum number of non-EU
players allowed on each team, they must sit one of their two USA players
out for the duration of the game.
These factors have
worked in favour of some of the talented Crusaders U-18’s players,
however, as Dave Edden, Sydney Donaldson and Tim Donaldson will all have
the opportunity to join the side and play at the next level.
The game promises to
be as entertaining as ever, and tickets are available on the door. Tip
off is at 7:30, Sat. 10th Nov. and prices are: Adult - £6,
Concessions - £4.
Meanwhile other
Crusaders teams are busy this weekend also.
Crusaders U-14 will
be involved in a tournament vs. City of Birmingham and Manchester at the
Nechelles Centre in Birmingham on Saturday.
U-16’s travel to
Ilkeston on Saturday and play at home at the Alan Higgs Centre on Sunday
1:30 pm against City of Birmingham II.
U-18’s have a game
at Black Country Wolves on Sunday. |
