Coventry
Crusaders Basketball Club will begin selling tickets for their opening
home game of the season on Friday as they look to carry on their
impressive end to last season when they tip off their National Trophy
campaign against Bristol Academy Flyers at the Coventry Sports Centre on
Saturday 26th September at 7:30pm.
Tickets
for all home games, which are £6 for adults and £4 for children,
students and OAPs, will be available from the Coventry Sports & Leisure
Centre reception every Friday between 9.30am and 5.00pm where Crusaders
senior team player Tim Donaldson will be present to serve fans.
Not only
this, but students from Coventry, Warwick and Birmingham universities
can gain an extra £1 ticket discount on the door if they produce a
Splat card, after the Crusaders recently teamed up with the
exclusive Warwickshire student discount initiative.
Following
some shrewd mid season transfer business by head coach Scott Neely last
year, American duo Travis Lay and John Olinger supplied a combined
average of 31 points per game to help the Crusaders transform their
season to secure a play off place through winning six of their remaining
nine England Basketball Division One league games, which in turn, has
heightened the head coach’s expectations of finishing in a higher
position this season.
“We won
six out of our last nine and the only teams we lost to, finished in the
top three positions in the league and two of these defeats were by three
points. So we were right there, and that was by the team coming together
late” Neely said.
“I’m
realistic in saying that we’ll aim for top five and we’ll have the
talent there and put a good enough team together to make that happen”.
