Coventry
and Warwickshire Wheelchair Basketball Team have suffered a severe blow with the news that
their influential Player Coach Paul Claridge has broken his back in a Snow Boarding
accident while in France.
Claridge
who has spearheaded the Coventry Wheelchair team since its merger with the Crusader Club
in 1996 is well known well liked and well respected throughout the National League.
Speaking
last night Claridge said he was awaiting a CT Scan today (Monday) to see the extent of the
injury but was not expecting to be back in action until the New Year.
Crusader's
Wheelchair Team who have got their 2003/04 season off to a blistering start, recording
three wins from their opening three games and currently hold pole position in The National
League Division 3 South, are due to play their first home fixture this coming Saturday
against Bristol Pirates.
Claridge
is hoping that the team will carry on their good start to their season in his absence, but
was waiting to hear from the league as to whether or not this weekend's fixture will take
place.
