It was out of respect for Coach Dip Donaldson
and the rest of the Crusader organisation that made Matt Fisher look towards Coventry to
play his basketball this season.
Leicester based Matt had spent last
season with 1st division outfit Mansfield Express and was now looking to move up into the
Conference.
Because he was used to playing
basketball out of town, Matt is aware of the commitment it takes to travel to training
twice a week after work and has therefore fitted in well.
" There are a lot of good
people involved here in Coventry, I want to enjoy my Basketball and I know I can do that
here with Crusaders."
Making his Crusader debut down at
Sutton in the opening game of the season Matt showed that he has fitted in well amongst
his teammates both on and off the court. Matt
feels he can offer solid ball handling skills, low turnover rates and hopefully a few
assists, as well as a couple of threes and a cheeky backdoor lay up now and again that he
hopes will keep the coaching staff happy.
At the age of 24 Matt is almost
classed as one of the veterans in this years squad where his experience and attitude
will help the younger members of the team. At
the same time Matt feels that his time here in Coventry will be mutually beneficial to him
as he watches and learns from experienced campaigners Coach Dip Donaldson and Captain
Derrick Pope.
Even after just a handful of
games for Crusaders his interaction with the Coventry supporters has been noticeable and
this very likeable young man will no doubt very soon become a crowd favourite.
