Crusaders continued their unbeaten home record with yet another win, this time against neighbours Leicester Cobras, In a friendly but hard fought competition.

Steve Jeremiah hit the first basket fro Crusaders within seconds of the start, and followed it up with another quick one before the Cobras captain, junior George Bates, rallied his team in the third minute.  George with 8 valuable points and the only lady on his team, Helen Tolley with 12 points led the scoring throughout.   Despite the excellent defence work of new junior Danny Cragg (who added 4 points of his own in quick succession in the third quarter) Sahial Ahmed and Steve contributed most of the scoring in quarters 1 -3.  However with Sahial getting into foul trouble by half time and Steve fouling out in the third, the baton was passed to Sho Ayub, Carl Leeth and coach/captain Paul Claridge to build on the sound foundation to keep Crusaders in the lead.

Cobras held Crusaders to one point in the 2nd quarter and took the 3rd by 2, with Corney and Esho adding the  tally but the 8 point lead Crusaders gained in the 1st was unassailable, and they took the 4th as well.

Juniors George Jeremiah and David Arundell shone in defence with David just missing a basket.  David Challenor made his playing début count with the last basket of the game ensuring Crusaders took their lead back to 10 points.

The next game is also at home against Bury Bombers on 18 April.  This will be followed by an exhibition game at Warwick University and the wheelchair academy, participate in the Warwickshire Basketball Association’s Festival of Basketball.  Ever fancied trying shooting from a chair?  The festival provides the opportunity in a spectator shoot out competition!
